Capturing the subtleties of fundus photography

I’ve been delving deeper into fundus photography lately, striving for that perfect balance of clarity and detail in the images. It’s fascinating how subtle changes can reveal so much about a patient’s eye health, and I often wonder what equipment and techniques others find indispensable. Anyone else have a recent experience or tips to enhance image quality that they’d like to share?

Getting the right lighting can make a huge difference in fundus photography… I recently upgraded to LED illumination, and it really helps in highlighting those subtle changes you mentioned. I’ve found that using a higher ISO setting can also enhance clarity but be careful with noise; it can ruin the image quality.

I had a similar issue until I started using a higher shutter speed — it can improve clarity significantly, but you have to find that balance to avoid losing detail. @mariah_84, what’s worked for your lighting setup lately?

I’ve found that using a fine-tuned focus stacking technique can capture more detail in those subtle changes you’re interested in. It’s a bit time-consuming, but the outcome is worth it for image quality; have you tried it yet, @mariah_84?
